CPD in Physical Education for Schools

We provide high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) in the three core subjects of PE, delivered by our team of highly experienced outdoor games, gymnastics, and dance specialists.

Contact us today to see how our CPD can help improve your school’s PE provision.

Investing in your staff

With over 20 years of experience delivering PE in primary schools across Greater Manchester, we know how to deliver high-quality PE lessons. We also know the many obstacles that teaching staff face to ensure the same standard of lessons.

Every school is different, and teachers have varied subject knowledge when it comes to PE. Sadly, only a quarter of schools believe that their PE lessons are good. Even fewer teachers have confidence in their teaching ability in PE.

We know that teachers can find it difficult to deliver consistently good lessons each week due to lack of confidence, limited subject knowledge in the different subjects of PE, or insufficient time set aside for PE lesson planning, especially as PE can often take a hit when prioritising other subjects.

How our CPD works

Focussing on the individual needs of each teacher, we adopt a flexible, ‘hands-on’ approach, with active participation from the teacher to achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes for them and your school.

The following is a sample, 6 week CPD programme overview...

  • Week 1: The coach and teacher discuss their goals and desired outcomes from the CPD. The teacher has the opportunity to observe the coach and make notes on the session.
  • Week 2: The teacher has the opportunity to lead the same lesson as in week 1, and is given verbal feedback from the coach.
  • Week 3: The coach and teacher team-teach a lesson together.
  • Week 4: The teacher, again, observes the coach who leads the lesson.
  • Week 5: The teacher delivers their own lesson, observed by the coach and receives recorded feedback.
  • Week 6: The teacher and coach team-teach a lesson together, focusing on weaker areas outlined in the feedback from the previous lesson.

CPD learning outcomes

Let us help your teaching staff gain knowledge, confidence, and understanding of:

  • what makes a high-quality PE lesson,
  • how to set and use available equipment effectively, so that children are active and engaged,
  • and how to support children with certain skills and how to challenge those children who are achieving the skills.
